My first try at fabric dyeing. Updated...

I wanted a pastel piece of Batik fabric, I decided there was no time like the present to try dyeing it myself.  So I dipped my toe into the water, or should I say my fabric.

I thought it turned out really pretty.

Don't know why this pic turned out with the lines in it,  It is not in the fabric.

This is different views of the fabric.  It has blues, pinks, greens and just a hint of yellow.  Now, if it just will not fade out when I wash it and I think I will do that before I use it.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
The color held in washing and drying, now I just need to do some more of it.
So happy about this.

  2. I love it! It looks a lot like fabric I purchased to make a yoyo bed runner out of.

  3. Your fabric dyeing turned out great! I love the colors you used! I've had those lines in some of my pictures, too. I think it comes from the light somehow.

  4. Found your site from Crafters Corner on Google+ I am now a few follower. I love your fabric. The colors are so soft.

I would love it if you would consider linking this or any other projects to my link party! It is the In and Out of the Kitchen party and is live now!

  5. That looks like a lot of fun. I have though about dying fabrics and each time I have mentioned it to my wife she gives me skeptical looks. how messy is the process?

    1. It's not really that messy if you dye a small piece at a time. 1 to 2 yards.

  6. I want to do the same exact thing, that type of fabric did you dye on so that it is still LQS quality? I should find a class to do learn how to do this...hehehe. =) Hugs & smiles, Tiffiny

    1. I used Wendover 100% cotton. Kona cotton works really well. Need to wash it first to remove any sizing that might be in it. I understand you can also dye with Koolaid. Have not tried that yet.

    1. I used diluted Set a Color fabric paint and vinegar. I will likely use soda ash next time. I got my paint from Dharma Trading co. I am thinking it is made in France, Have fun Sam.
