Small Arts Quilt Class I will be teaching in Jackson, Ms

I will be teaching a class on this Small Arts Quilt for Mississippi Quilters Association in Jackson, MS on June 1st, 2013. Students will be encouraged to add anything they wish to their Art Quilt, making it uniquely their own.                                                                                   Each quarter the MQA holds a gathering in some town in Mississippi.  This one is called the June Gathering.  Members from all over come to gather and talk about quilts, take classes, show and tell, programs, bed turnings, door prizes and just have a glorious time.  This is a 1 and 1/2 day event.  If you are a quilter, you will not want to miss it.
This is the pattern we will be using in the class.

This beautiful Art Quilt was made by Betty J. Norton, Vernon, Al.  Betty did a beautiful job on this small Art Quilt.  Note her shadow effects on the large pink f;lower.

Made by Polly S. Mixon of Beaverton, Al.  Polly has added a little extra to her Art Quilt, ie. The butterfly on the flower and an extra limb.  Good Job Polly.

The Ultimate Quilt Guild Challenge

Our guild, Possum Town Quilters Guild, of Columbus, Ms decided to enter the AQS Ultimate Guild Challenge for 2013. The committee this year selected as our theme, Tennessee Williams, the Playwriter, since he was from Mississippi. We each drew cards which had a play, book or short story on it and we were to make a quilt a specified size depicting what was on the card.  The one I drew was"Small Craft Warning".  Short play taking place in a seaside Bar in a small shoreline town. As seen below,  My entry.

These are some of the possums of the Possum Town Quilters Guild.  Beautiful, big hearted ladies

Some of the quilt entries are behind these ladies.
